THE PELOPONNESE
The Peloponnese is a peninsula occupying the southernmost point of the Greek mainland. Its interior is mountainous and its coastline offers some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. The Peloponnese, itself, has four peninsulas. The peninsula in the far northeast corner is called the Argolida. Porto Heli and its magical bay are located on the southern coast of the Argolida facing the islands of the Argosaronikos Gulf, Hydra and Spetses.
Porto Heli is a traditional, fishing village favoured by cosmopolitan Athenians because of its lovely setting and close proximity to Greece’s capital city. Summer is filled with bustling activity along the coast, with glorious beaches, cafes, restaurants and bars, but the town maintains its charming atmosphere. Porto Heli is a perfect destination to discover the history of the area, the authenticity of unspoiled, local tradition or, simply, delighting in the landscape and diving into crystal, clear waters.
